What is the Level 2 Electrician Course Price?
When you want to work in the NSW electrical supply and distribution network, you need to be registered as an Accredited Service Provider (ASP). Gaining accreditation to this scheme requires that you complete specific training to become an ASP Level 1 or ASP Level 2. In this article, we’ll discuss the Level 2 electrician course price and also information about how to gain your accreditation.
What is an ASP level 2?
An ASP Level 2 is a person or company registered and approved by the NSW government as an Accredited Service Provider. This means they can work in the electrical supply and distribution network (ESDN) for Endeavour Energy, Essential Energy or Ausgrid. Many people also use the term ‘level 2 electrician’ to describe these workers.
A level 2 electrical service includes work on electricity metering, such as disconnection and reconnection, installing, repairing and other electrical work for residential and commercial customers. The work is always related to the electricity network, however. This could be installation and connection to electrical services, or advising customers if they need their switchboard upgraded to avoid a defect notice.
Level 2 ASPs also work on overhead service lines, underground service lines and all aspects of electricity metering at the point of attachment.
In order to become an ASP Level 2, you need to complete ASP pathway training. IAC Safety Services offers this training, which includes multiple units. The units you complete are often determined by your desired role within the ESDN.
What’s included in the level 2 electrician course price
There are multiple ways to structure your Level 2 ASP pathway course, depending on your current level of skills and knowledge. For example, licensed electricians can gain recognition of prior learning for many units. In addition, those who have completed a certificate in electrotechnology or ESI are also eligible for recognition of prior learning where possible.
However, the Level 2 electrician course price, as operated by IAC Safety Services, includes the units that are typically missing from other electrotechnology pathway training. As such, you may need to complete all units or just a selection. The units available are:
- UETDRIS011 – Install and maintain low-voltage underground services
- UETDRIS010 – Install and maintain low-voltage overhead services
- UEEEL0013 – Install, set up and commission interval metering
- Level 2 New ESI
The total cost for all units is $7,050, but let’s take a look at the breakdown of costs.
