The Benefits of Level 2 ASP Electrical Training

    level 2 asp electrical training

Completing Level 2 ASP electrical training opens the door to a range of job opportunities. If you want to work in the electrical supply and distribution network (ESDN), you must be registered as an Accredited Service Provider (ASP). There are different ASP levels for varying work types, but if you want to perform connections and disconnections in the network, you’ll need to train as an ASP Level 2.

Here are just a few benefits of Level 2 ASP electrical training for new workers and those with electrical experience.

    Increased safety knowledge

While compulsory regulatory reasons exist to complete an ASP Level 2 course, the primary benefit is increased safety knowledge. No matter what type of environment you work in, safety is everybody’s priority. All workers have a right to come home safely from work each day, and electrical safety training ensures that. If everybody is safety-trained, there is a higher likelihood of hazards being identified, acted upon and addressed to maintain a safe workplace.

    More job opportunities

There is no doubt that Level 2 ASP electrical training opens you up to a wealth of job opportunities. The three companies that maintain the NSW ESDN are Essential Energy, Endeavour Energy and Ausgrid. You must complete ASP training to work for these companies in the network. So, by training as a Level 2 ASP, you can access many jobs previously closed to you.

    Build a career

If you’ve had some form of electrical training, you are likely interested in working in this field. But there’s a lot more to electrical training than becoming a residential electrician. Level 2 ASP training gets you into the electrical supply industry, which can lead to a varied and rewarding career – possibly even jobs you’d never previously considered.

    Qualify for ASP registration

As we mentioned, there are regulatory reasons to undertake ASP training, too. If you want to work in the ESDN, you must be registered as an ASP with the NSW government. You can’t register with the ASP scheme unless you’ve completed ASP training and can’t work in the network without ASP registration.

    Improve your resume

Even if you don’t have any jobs lined up straight away, undertaking more training is always a benefit. The more you learn, the more impressive your resume looks. This, in turn, makes you more employable and shows a commitment to improving your skills. Even if you don’t stay in the electrical services industry, training always looks good on a resume.
