    low voltage rescue training

For ESI workers, that is, qualified professionals working in the electrical supply industry, low voltage rescue training is crucial. This specific training teaches workers the essential skills needed to perform a rescue in low-voltage environments. With safety such an important part of the electrical industry, this training can genuinely be a life-saver.

In this article, we’ll explore LV rescue training and its importance in more detail.

What is low voltage rescue training?

Low voltage rescue training equips electrical workers with the skills they need to respond safely to emergencies. It focuses on handling incidents involving low-voltage electrical systems. This training is essential for anyone working in the electrical supply industry (ESI), where quick and effective rescues can save a life. The course specifically prepares workers to safely perform a rescue from a low-voltage panel, ensuring they can act swiftly in the event of an electrical incident. In these high-risk environments, proper training can make the difference between life and death.

    UETDRMP007 – Perform rescue from a low-voltage panel

The UETDRMP007 unit is a key component of electrical safety courses and specifically covers rescuing a person in contact with a live low-voltage panel. This unit provides workers with the necessary skills to assess the situation, safely isolate the power supply, and perform first aid if required. You’ll also learn how to secure the area and report incidents as required by site requirements.

Why low voltage rescue training is crucial in the electrical supply industry

Working in the ESI involves constant exposure to live electrical systems. Even though low-voltage systems are less powerful than high-voltage ones, they still come with significant risks. Electrical shocks, arc flashes, and burns are just a few of the dangers. LV training prepares workers to manage these risks effectively, ensuring they can take immediate action in the event of an emergency. With trained personnel on-site, workplaces are better equipped to handle emergencies and protect workers.

Integration with Crane and Plant training

It’s not just electricians who need LV rescue training. Workers in the ESI, including non-electrical workers like crane and plant operators, might need to perform a rescue. That’s why it is one of the units integrated into overhead powerlines training. Including the UETDRMP007 unit ensures that workers receive specific training to handle rescue situations involving low-voltage systems.

    Maintaining your certification

Once completed, your certification must be regularly updated with refresher courses to maintain compliance. This can be completed as part of your mandatory annual ASP Refresher training, so you’ll always be up to date with the latest procedures and regulations.
