    level 2 accredited service provider

Everybody who works in the NSW Electricity Supply and Distribution Network (ESDN) must be registered as an Accredited Service Provider. In this article, we’ll explain what that means and how to become registered. But once you’ve got Accredited Service Provider Level 2 status, you must act accordingly to maintain it. Don’t worry, we’ll also talk you through how to maintain your Level 2 status.

How to become an ASP Level 2

There are three key steps to becoming registered as an ASP:

    • Complete relevant electrical and safety training for your desired ASP level.
    • Apply for registration to the NSW Department of Planning & Environment.
    • Apply for authorisation from the electricity distributor you intend to work for (Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy)

We won’t go into all of the details here, because this article focuses more on maintaining your Level 2 ASP status. For more information on becoming a Level 2 electrician, check out our ASP Level 2 course guide here.

    Mandatory annual refresher training

When you achieve Accredited Service Provider Level 2 status, you must complete annual safety refresher training to maintain it. This training ensures that all ASPs have up-to-date knowledge and skills when it comes to ensuring a safe working environment.

This training covers the basics of Workplace Health and Safety in Australia, but it is very tailored to the electrical supply industry (ESI). So, there is a focus on maintaining safety around live network assets, testing low-voltage connections and performing first aid in an ESI environment.

In addition, the course covers a range of rescue situations, such as pole top rescue, cable pit rescue, tower rescue and many more. This course is specifically tailored for the ESI, making it essential for all workers. Even Level 1 ASPs and non-electrical workers who contribute to the construction of network assets must have the same safety training.

    IAC’s Mobile Training Unit

Here at IAC Safety Services, we make it extremely easy for people to check their Accredited Service Provider Level 2 status online and book in for refresher training as required. Because part of the training is done in a practical environment, you must attend in person to complete the course. However, if you’re not near one of our training locations, don’t worry.

We’ve developed a Mobile Training Unit to bring safety training to you. We visit multiple regional areas every month to conduct mandatory ASP refresher training. We understand it’s not easy with a busy work schedule to travel long distances for training. So, we make it simple. Check our mobile training schedule here to find a course in your area.

Maintain Accredited Service Provider Level 2 registration

If you’re due to complete annual ASP refresher training, IAC Safety Services is here to help. Whether you’re close to one of our training and assessment centres or you need to book with our mobile training unit, we have options available. It’s crucial to complete refresher training to maintain your status as an accredited service provider level 2. So, don’t delay – book your training course with IAC Safety Services today.
