    level 1 asp list

The first step to your accreditation journey begins with a comprehensive understanding of the Level 1 ASP List. This list comprises Accredited Service Providers (ASPs) in New South Wales and is maintained by the Office of Climate and Energy Action. Being on this list is not merely about recognition. It’s also a testament to your adherence to high safety and quality standards within the energy distribution network. Most importantly, when you’re on the Level 1 ASP list, you’re eligible to work for the main energy distribution companies such as Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy.

Prerequisites for Level 1 ASP Accreditation

Before you set your sights on the Level 1 ASP List, it’s crucial to ensure you meet certain prerequisites. Starting with foundational requirements, one must hold an electrical trade certificate, backed by around two years of experience within the industry. A clear and thorough understanding of electrical safety norms and regulations is paramount. It’s these standards that ensure safety and consistency across all operations within the industry. By satisfying these prerequisites, you also confirm your capability to uphold the responsibilities of a Level 1 ASP, proving your readiness for the accreditation process.

Understanding the ASP Scheme and its Levels

The ASP Scheme is hierarchical, divided into three levels. As a Level 1 ASP, you’re responsible for carrying out complex tasks such as overhead and underground service line work. Each level comes with its own set of roles and responsibilities. Level 1 allows you to perform construction work on network assets, overhead and underground. However, if you want to perform connections, you would need to be a Level 2 ASP.

Process of Level 1 ASP Accreditation

The journey to the Level 1 ASP list involves a thorough accreditation process. It begins with acquiring a relevant qualification, such as Certificate III in ESI Power Systems Distribution Overhead (UET30619). Following this, an application for accreditation is submitted to the Office of Climate and Energy Action. It’s important to note that the application process demands careful attention. Any inaccuracies or errors could lead to delays or even rejections. Preparing in advance, gathering all necessary documentation, and carefully filling out the application form are essential steps to ensure your accreditation process goes smoothly.

Ongoing Learning for Level 1 ASPs

Your journey doesn’t stop once you’ve made it to the Level 1 ASP list. Continuous learning and regular upskilling are vital to stay relevant and maintain your spot on the list. The energy distribution network is constantly evolving, with new safety standards and regulations being introduced regularly. To provide the best service as a Level 1 ASP, you must stay abreast of these changes and continuously refine your skills. All ASPs must undertake ASP Refresher Training at least once every 12 months to maintain accreditation.
