Low voltage (LV) rescue training is essential to ensure workplace safety within the NSW electrical supply industry (ESI). It gives workers the skills to respond effectively to emergencies involving low-voltage panels, significantly reducing risks in high-pressure environments. Training providers typically incorporate rescue training into other ESI safety programs, including the Crane and Plant course and ASP Pathways. In this article, we’ll learn about the LV rescue training cost and why it’s so important for electrical workers

The importance of low voltage training for ESI workers

In the ESI, workers are frequently exposed to live electrical equipment and panels, making safety training essential. Low voltage rescue training prepares you to handle potentially life-threatening situations by teaching you how to safely rescue individuals from low-voltage systems. This includes isolating power sources, using rescue equipment, and administering CPR if required.

To work as an Accredited Service Provider (ASP), LV training is a mandatory requirement and forms part of other essential safety courses.

How LV rescue training is integrated into broader courses

At IAC Safety Services, LV rescue training is the UETDRMP007 unit, which is integrated into larger courses like electrical safety training for crane and plant operators or the ASP pathways. These programs cater to workers who operate near live electrical infrastructure, such as overhead powerlines, providing them with full training to manage both safety and emergency situations.

UETDRMP007 is also part of other training, such as the ASP pathways courses. These, as well as an annual ASP refresher course, are mandatory for those registering as ASPs. So, if you want to work in the network, you’ll have to complete the live panel rescue training.

Why LV rescue training is mandatory

As we touched on, workers must meet strict safety training requirements in order to register as an ASP. If you want to work in the NSW electricity distribution network, you must have ASP accreditation. Therefore, if you don’t complete low voltage rescue training, you won’t be eligible for employment within the network.

Aside from that, the most important reason is safety. Working near live electrical apparatus comes with risks, so it’s essential that all workers are able to respond quickly in the event of an emergency.

Factors that influence the cost of training

actors such as course duration, the complexity of the training, and bundling with other modules determine the cost of LV rescue training. IAC Safety Services offers LV training as part of several safety courses, rather than pricing it as a standalone unit. This bundled approach often reduces costs, helping participants gain essential skills and meet regulatory requirements.

Want more information about LV rescue training?

IAC Safety Services offers a range of training programs tailored to meet the needs of ESI workers. Whether you’re looking to complete the Crane and Plant course, which includes LV rescue training, or need other ASP refresher courses and safety modules, we’re here to help.
