Attendance Policy
RTO’s require punctual attendance from their students. To ensure that students are aware of our expectations; and to provide guidelines for managing punctuality and absences, the following ‘Attendance Policy’ is adopted. It does not apply to absences for which formal notification is received and approved.
IAC Safety Services’ teaching hours are from 07:30 AM to 15:30, 4 days per week Monday through to Thursday, unless alternative arrangements have been specified and agreed.
A compulsory minimum attendance rate of 90% of the scheduled time is required by all students at all training and assessment events. Students who are absent for greater than 90% (accumulative) of the scheduled time for the event; without prior consent will automatically be deemed to have withdrawn from their studies and may have their enrolment terminated.
Students are expected to arrive at the specified event at the specified time. A single grace period of 15 minutes may be granted on one occasion only. Students arriving after the 15 minute grace period, without seeking and obtaining formal permission from IAC Safety Services prior to arriving at the venue, will be considered as non-attending.
Note: The Student / Company must make contact prior to the specified start time, not after that time i.e. contact within the 15 min grace period in not acceptable.
Students unable to attend the event must notify IAC Safety Services via email (enquiries@iac.edu.au) no later than 2 working days (Monday to Thursday), before their scheduled event start time to avoid full cancellation fees being charged.
A student with an excused absence greater than 90 days may be required to repeat the theory and / or practical components of their studies in accordance with the ASQA ‘Currency’ Rules of Evidence.
An unexcused absence will incur either ‘full course’ fees being charged or an ‘administration / cost recovery’ fee being charged.
Breaks are scheduled in accordance with the local venue’s schedule; and / or at the discretion of the event trainer / assessor throughout the day. Students are expected to return from scheduled breaks on time, Failure to return contributes towards their absenteeism time and 90% attendance obligation.
Exemptions may be applied at the discretion of the General Management on a case-by-case basis; however, this will only occur within the official application process.
Students who breach this policy may be subject to the following disciplinary action.
- Verbal Warning.
- Disciplinary discussion.
- Expulsion.
Refunds:
A refund may only be paid in the following circumstances:
- An overpayment was made.
- You have enrolled into incorrect studies, a nd you wish to transfer to the correct studies. In this event the balance between the two prices will be established and charged or refunded accordingly. An administration recovery fee may be charged in this situation.

- The RTO ceases trading before the training and assessment commenced or delivered the training or assessment service(s) that you purchased.

- If the refund is denied, the claimant will be notified and provided with a reason why the refund request was denied.
- If the refund is approved, the refund request will be processed.
